To intervene or not to intervene has been the discussion of the day. Chicks have evolved to extricate themselves from their shell and to live without external food and water for at least 24 hours. BUT… is that one pipping at the wrong end of the shell? That one has made no progress in several hours, is it stuck? Surely those chicks who hatched 12 hours ago would like to move to the brooder?
Anyway, at the time of writing, there are eight healthy chicks in the incubator – mostly having arrived unaided.
