This morning the nestling swallows took to the wing, circled round once or twice, and then had to have a rest on the shed roof
Later they decided to go back in the shed
and tonight they are tucked up in the nest again.
The redstarts are so elusive that they evade photography but have been seen bringing food into the nestbox.
The Meadow Browns have heard that The Bottom Field is now The Meadow and so have come flocking… in ones
but where there are twos there are eggs… and caterpillars… and pupae.. and more.
The canopy may be at its peak before descending into August fustiness
The Lane narrows
as Bracken and Brambles reach out
Dark crevices amid the banks harbour ferns and mosses
Down by the pond,
a mysterious flower emerges (grateful for any suggestions?)
amid things we are familiar with
It may be mid-summer but part of our thoughts are set on winter as we bring in wood
and extend the stores
Elsewhere on The Plot today
and the strawberries..
