The Birds and the Butterflies…and the Snails

No sooner are broods of Robins and Blackbirds safely set at large, than the quiet period of frantic parent food gathering gives way to a new round of territorial singing as stakes are claimed for another round of procreation.

Some parents find it harder to shake off their first brood. After another day of trying out life, this time accompanied by Number Four, the young swallows again return to their nest for another night of comfort.

The Coupling Season catches on as Small Tortoiseshells twist and turn in synchronised flight punctuated with times of shared sunbathing
