In the end Dinah, quite sensibly, waited until her due date – today. She spent the afternoon building an elaborate straw nest, then decided it was dinner time. After dinner she built her nest all over again. It was nearly three hours from when she lay down and started serious breathing and contractions until the arrival of the first piglet. She then kept us a little bit stressed by getting up and dancing around after every couple of births leading to much squeaking by knocked and scattered piglets. At the time of writing she is nursing eight and to all appearances has finished.
