How today was seen…

Today we see the most perfect of May days – extreme warmth, calm air, clear skies. Through our nature and our past we see this as a blissful nirvana. only experienced for a few days (every?) year.

The birds around us see it as an opportunity to frantically scoop up as much food as possible

to transport back to hungry broods
or, in some cases, to fledglings that come to help

Surrounding flora just want to get on with the boring process of blooming so the important business of setting seed can ensue

Down at The Lake the soup thickens and we make two first time sightings:
The first newt in this water

and the first Damselfly visiting

In the surrounding meadow

the all important Rattle shows its first flowering

Under our control we do have possible fruits

and a host of plants trying to breakout
