Can’t believe we are halfway through April. This Moon has slowly been waxing

and Spring seems to have been stuttering in a stop start way. Today a biting Easterly breeze cut through clothing layers and the day started with icy puddles.

The daffodils keep going

and each morning the lamb population next door increases

The chicks are now three weeks old and at home under a bench in the greenhouse

It has been warm in the polytunnels, which we have been reclaiming from some winter neglect

including installing dog guards to give seedlings a chance

Blossom time is lasting well

Here on a young apple we planted

When we lived in the city our street was lined with mature flowering cherries which at this time laid a soft pink carpet on the pavement – until the Council cut them down. In memoriam we have planted our own, which is currently trying to cram as much blossom as possible onto its young frame

We are now planting a magnolia and wanting it outside the house, direct into solid clay, are lifting it to aid drainage
