Can’t believe we are halfway through April. This Moon has slowly been waxing
and Spring seems to have been stuttering in a stop start way. Today a biting Easterly breeze cut through clothing layers and the day started with icy puddles.
The daffodils keep going
and each morning the lamb population next door increases
The chicks are now three weeks old and at home under a bench in the greenhouse
It has been warm in the polytunnels, which we have been reclaiming from some winter neglect
including installing dog guards to give seedlings a chance
Blossom time is lasting well
Here on a young apple we planted
When we lived in the city our street was lined with mature flowering cherries which at this time laid a soft pink carpet on the pavement – until the Council cut them down. In memoriam we have planted our own, which is currently trying to cram as much blossom as possible onto its young frame
We are now planting a magnolia and wanting it outside the house, direct into solid clay, are lifting it to aid drainage
Here are some other glimpses from round the plot in the last few days:
and the soup plant is doing well
What’s a soup plant?
