One of our bird feeders is monitored by a camera and towards the end of the afternoon there is a regular routine.
5:21 pm and it is squirrel time – a juvenile today
5:23 pm and it is the turn of the juvenile Woodpecker
5:35 pm and the Wood Pigeon juggernaut lands
6:19 pm is Jay time – another juvenile
Who knows what arrives after dark.
Behind the Door of Plenty
is much Bountifulness
Sometimes in the past we have suffered dropped Aubergine flowers. trying hard this year to get the watering right plus a bit of paintbrush tickling. Looking good so far
Chillies are less precocious but they will need a lot of hot sun
Borage is burgeoning
We have tried very hard to keep up succession sowing of Lettuce this year and managed to keep it going to use the outside beds as well us the tunnels
This means that lunch every day looks like this

We are growing eight varieties this year – Chocolate Cherry, Ailsa Craig, Black Opal, Ildi, Rosella, Shirley, Sungold, Sweet Aperitif

Some little treasures spotted around the plot today.
It is the colour of this rose that is special to us and this year it is producing more blooms than ever
This one might not be as accessible to insects but it certainly packs in the petals
The male Chaser turns up every year and sits on the stump waiting for a female
The Golden-ringed dragonfly seems to prefer thistles
It is a good year for thistles – including the white ones
Ox-Eye Daisies are dominating in the Orchard meadow this year but the Poppies are getting a look in
together with one solitary Cornflower
No problem with insect access here
And the closer you look, the more marvels you see
