In yesterday’s moistness down at the Meadow
some of the vast tadpole population enjoying the Lake
decided to grow legs and go terrestrial
the surrounding grass was filled with little hoppers
The tomato invasion continues to take over all available space
But like the Magic Pudding, however much is taken out of the greenhouse, it still seems full

The sparrows’ breakfast is interrupted
the vine twines
and shows promise of future grapes
Each night the beans survive the slugs is a step forward
And the fresh frisson of May is starting to merge into the steady intensity of June
