Aubergines!
Admittedly there is still a way to go before the fruit is in the pan but it is a start.
When we were looking for potential sites to move to we were particularly interested in pond potential (or, inspired by Phil and Roz, small lake potential). This site does have a pond that is in a wooded area and when we arrived it was turning into a beech-leaf-bog. Today we spent some time dredging out leaves and are discovering it has the potential to be a useful little pond.
At this point I had already pulled out a pile of leaves:
But as I pulled out more and more water began to appear:
This is all very heartening – and there were some nice round black snails there too.
